Indications for Neck Dissection with T3/T4 Glottic Cancers

  • Clinically N0 neck
    • Ipsilateral elective neck dissection Levels II– IV
    • Convert to MND if suspicious nodes in neck (+/- frozen section)
    • Contralateral elective neck dissection Levels II– IV for tumour crossing midline or significant supraglottic extension
    • Level VI (pre- and paratracheal nodes) with subglottic extension or extension to piriform fossa…also requires thyroid lobectomy
  • Clinically N+ neck: Modified radical neck dissection (MND) / Selective Levels II-IV / Radical neck dissection (RND)
